Jim's Trike

This one's a proper character, and it's named after a proper gent. Jim's Trike was Jim Pantall's own bike, and Jim was a fantastic volunteer and a great friend of Bike Worcester. He rode this very trike everywhere: shorts on, jazzy jumper out, crutches strapped to the rack, brightening up Fred's on a Friday. Jim died in April 2025 and we miss him terribly. The trike itself is a rigid, low step-through 24-inch adult tricycle, given a new lease of life with a retrofitted Tongsheng 250W mid-drive motor at the bottom bracket, powered by a battery that lives in a cradle under the rear cargo basket. It rolls on full-size 700C hybrid wheels with a front coil suspension fork, high-rise swept-back handlebars, and full-coverage mudguards, because nobody wants a wet back.

The big fixed steel wire basket out back swallows the weekly shop, a 6-speed Sunrun drivetrain with front and rear cable-actuated disc brakes keeps things simple and serviceable, and the low step-through frame makes it genuinely easy to get on and off. Ride it, and think of Jim.
